Premier League: Saka to stun United…

The main game in the Premier League this Sunday comes from the Emirates Stadium, as Arsenal host Manchester United.

Both teams have won two out of their opening three games this campaign, but the Gunners start as clear favourites, having claimed the three points and drawn one of their last five home league games against United.

Injuries to Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw have disrupted Erik ten Hag’s defensive plans, and United will likely be forced to field a similar back four which played against Nottingham Forest, which conceded two goals at home.

Bukayo Saka could become the first Arsenal player to score in four consecutive Premier League appearances against Manchester United. He scored in the win over Forest on opening weekend, with another coming in the 2-2 draw with Fulham last time out. We’ll take him to score the opener today.

An earlier game comes from Anfield, as Liverpool take on Aston Villa.

The Reds come into the game on a high after their dramatic victory over Newcastle last weekend, but that match still illustrated the defensive issues Liverpool are struggling with, particularly down their right flank. These problems will be amplified as first-choice centre-backs Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk are missing.

Liverpool have struggled for control in their first three games, drawing 1-1 at Chelsea before a 3-1 home win over Bournemouth, and they needed an 89th-minute Roberto Firmino goal to earn a 1-1 draw with Villa at Anfield in May.

Liverpool may well win today, but the value lies with Villa goalscorers. Moussa Diaby can become the first player to score in each of Villa’s opening three away matches of a top-flight season since David Platt in 1990-91, and we’ll take a punt at 10/1 that he opens the scoring.

Recommendations:

Arsenal/Man Utd: Saka to score first, 1 pt, at 13/2, SkyBet

Liverpool/Villa: Diaby to score first, 1pt, at 10/1, bet365
