The new Premier League weekend kicks off at Molineux, with Wolves hosting Liverpool in the early afternoon televised game.
Liverpool are unbeaten in 15 Premier League games, having last lost to champions Manchester City in April, and are thus rightly heavily favoured to win today. That said, this early kickoff time proved particularly problematic for the Reds last season, who failed to win any of their six fixtures at this time last season, losing three and drawing three.
It may be too much to expect a goal-shy Wolves side to beat Liverpool, but they can certainly cause a few problems to a team missing defensive colossus Virgil van Dijk.
Wolves central defender Craig Dawson scored against the Reds last season, and he has been a constant goal threat throughout his long career. He’s a tasty 14/1 to score anytime, and we’ll be on that.
The evening game sees Newcastle take on Brentford at St. James’ Park.
The Magpies have had a rude awakening after their impressive start to the season, and are in danger of losing four consecutive league matches for the first time since a run of five defeats in January 2021.
That said, they have only been beaten five times in their 35 Premier League home fixtures under Eddie Howe – by Liverpool (three times), Arsenal and Manchester City – pointing to a home win.
But, Newcastle have kept just two clean sheets in their past 22 league matches, and in Bryan Mbeumo the Bees have a plenty who is thriving in the absence of Ivan Toney. The striker has scored seven goals in his last seven matches in the Premier League, and is a healthy 100/30 to net again.
Recommendations:
Wolves/Liverpool: Dawson to score anytime, 1 pt, at 14/1, SkyBet
Newcastle/Brentford: Mbeumo to score anytime, 1 pt, at 100/30, SkyBet
