Monday Races: Giving a Scooby?

From the sublime to, well, a very modest Monday.

This day is an early warning of the kinds of racing days we will be seeing more of in October, with late season low grade flat racing allies to early season low grade jumps.

It pays to tread carefully and we will take a cautious look at today’s Bath card.  the track is the highest altitude course in U.K. racing, a byproduct of which is no watering mechanisms.

The ground therefore is often faster as Bath than any other course all season, but today sees some rare soft ground.

In the sprint handicap (1640 BST), the soft ground is key to the chances of veteran Captain Scooby.   There is nothing progressive about this horse and he is obviously of low quality, but he just shows enough to suggest that back on his favoured going he is capable of a surprise.

He is habitually slowly away these days and plugs on past beaten horses, the soft ground will hopefully slow enough of the down for him to feature at the finish.

Recommendation: Captain Scooby, (1640 Bath), 1pt win, 14/1 Paddy Power, BetVictor
