Monday Races: Nowhere to run…

After a weekend of agonising near misses, with Bigmartre, Rory McIlroy and Eden Hazard all losing effective photo finishes, it was a relief to see yesterday’s 7/2 Sedgefield tip Black Art get the judge’s verdict in a driving finish.  We advised keeping an eye on Cash Again later at Sedgefield, the weekend bruising probably a key factor in stopping short of an outright pick – of course he won at 14/1 !!

A quiet Monday sees action at Hereford and Plumpton, and we will wait for the closing race at the latter Sussex venue and a familiar tip.

Two weeks ago we picked out Flight To Nowhere when she finished placed in a mares handicap hurdle at 16/1.  She won’t be that price today but the key question is whether she will repeat that Taunton run.  That day she travelled like a winner for a long way until emptying on the run to the last and fading into the places.

The key question is whether she can preserve her run long enough to see out the trip this time.  On the negative side, the heavy ground could be stamina sapping.  On the positive side, they may not go much pace in that ground, and Plumpton is definitely a shortlist track for those with limited stamina as the tight turns undermine a strong gallop.

We think trainer Richard Price has selected this target carefully, and his mare might just be able to last out the race, in which case her smooth travelling style should secure a win.

Recommendation:  Flight To Nowhere, (1625 Plumpton), 1pt win, 11/2 generally available
