Sunday Yankee: Good Call…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Hunters Call,  (1500 Cheltenham), 2pts win, 14/1:

A veteran age of 10, but not over-raced having seen just 12 lifetime hurdle events.  Flew home to win a valuable Ascot event before injury kept him off until a comeback win this Summer.  Followed that with a fair 4th in the Galway Hurdle having ended up making the running.  Will prefer to be held up here, handles any ground, and may still have some mileage in this mark.

Discorama, (1350Cheltenham), 5/2:   Placed at the last three festivals but now has a handicap mark accordingly.  That said this is a race full of mostly exposed sorts. We are fans of Big River, but he flopped in this on debut last year and may need the run.  Discorama has a run under his belt, stays well, handles soft, and is owed a Cheltenham win.

Defi Du Seuil, (1425 Cheltenham), 7/4: has an enviable record of consistently top class performances that saw him go off long odds on for the Champion Chase here and promptly put in his first bomb when well beaten.  Has to give weight here to last year’s top novices, but is more than capable of that if back to his normal best, and looks a fair price to put those bad March memories behind him.

Charlie Siringo, (1525 Punchestown), 7/2:  is one of several of these to vainly chase the ridiculously well handicapped Dreal Deal.  Gave that one something to think about last time and that was Charlie’s handicap debut so he can be expected to improve again further.  Looks well weighted for a stable in form.
