Tuesday Races: Fast finisher to flourish…

A busy Tuesday features one of our favourite of the low grade tracks in the shape of Catterick and it’s the action there than can bridge us to the higher grade fare coming from Doncaster’s coming St Leger meeting.

At the heart of a competitive card comes a decent little 6f handicap (1545 BST).

The favourite is Avenue Of Stars, who had hinted at a return to form before being pipped at Hamilton last week.  That said, the race that day was weak and this looks a whole lot stronger.  He could still be running into form but he looks a bit underpriced.

In a race likely to be run at a very strong gallop we prefer the claims of both Cupid’s Arrow and Le Manege Enchante.

Cupid’s Arrow can be forgiven a poor run last time when everything went wrong.  On earlier course form he has every chance and should go close if not sitting too near the likely speed.

Catterick doesn’t always suit the hold-up horse, but with a lot of pace on here the race may just fall into the perfect shape for Le Manege Enchante.

Since fitting blinkers this horse has run really well with a come from behind win under similar conditions at speed favouring Thirsk and a creditable albeit hampered 6th in a better race at Newmarket.

All the pieces are in place for a big run here and his late run can wear down Cupid’s Arrow.

Recommendation: Le Manège Enchante, (1545 Catterick), 1pt win, 7/1 generally available
