European Golf: Lean on Luiten…

The European Tour takes another unconventional turn this week with a new event called the Belgian Knockout, held at the Rinkven International Golf Club on the outskirts of Antwerp.

The tournament is a combination of stroke play and knockout golf, played over nine holes of two very different courses.

The first two days see 144 competitors play in the traditional 18 hole stroke play format, nine holes on each course. A cut is then made, and the surviving 64 players engage in a nine hole knockout tournament still using the stroke play format.

This is a new event, and there are many unknowns as to who each player will face and on which course. This makes working out value in betting tricky. With this in mind, we’re going to side with experience.

Dutch star Joost Luiten is one of the bigger names in this field. A talented player, he has his eyes on Ryder Cup selection in the autumn and is likely to see this as almost a home event.

Recommendation: Luiten to win, 1 pt, at 28/1, SkyBet
