Thursday Yankee: Arnold, he’ll be backed…

The Daily Yankee:

NAP OF THE DAY:  Arnold, (1530 Beverley), 1pt win, 7/1 generally available

Has achieved good placings in recent runs at sharp tracks Wetherby and Musselburgh sandwiching a strong finishing win here.  He returns to this course where the stiff finish is more suitable to his run style with a much more favourable draw than when he won. Just 1lb higher looks generous, and track legend Joe Fanning gets the leg up.

Vigee Le Brun, (1700 Beverley) 5/6:  not often you see one such a short price for an amateur riders handicap, but David O’Meara’s filly burst to life three days ago when bolting up by 6 lengths at Ripon.  She is unpenalised for that apprentice race win, so runs off the same mark, is well drawn and has the leading amateur rider in the saddle.  A short price but a shoo-in.

Massaar, (1920 Leopardstown), 7/2:  has looked steadily progressive building to a neat win in France last time.  May be more appreciative of forecast rain than some of his market rivals and has scope to still be improving.

Global Pass, (1950 Leopardstown), 15/2:  This 3yo was running deplorably in England until transferred to Ireland recently.  His Irish debut was surprisingly decent when only fading late on over this course and distance.  He can only improve for that and has a decent draw here.
