European Golf: Magic Matt…

The European Tour heads east this week, with the Albatross Golf Resort in Prague hosting the Czech Masters.

Favourite for the event is Thomas Pieters, with the big hitting Belgian needing to put down a marker if he is to clinch a spot in next month’s Ryder Cup. He won this event in 2015, finished second the year later, and could indeed go close again at a venue which suits those with length off the tee. However, at around 6/1 you aren’t getting much value.

Instead we’re going to side with another player with sneaky driving length. Matt Wallace has been one of the success stories of the year on the European Tour. He has already won twice this year, is high up on the Race to Dubai and recently finished in the top twenty in the US PGA Championship. Climb aboard.

Our second option is the defending champion Haydn Porteous. The South African has already shown his liking to the course, is playing with confidence and has the length to score heavily. In a relatively weak field, he has the class to win again.

Recommendations:

Wallace to win, 1 pt, at 22/1, widely available

Porteous 0.5 pts each way at 35/1, at 1/4 the odds for the first five places, SkyBet
