Wednesday Yankee: Compelling Witness…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Character Witness, (1910 Kempton), 1pt win, 11/2 generally available

Clearly represents the promise here having been eye catching in two early Summer runs.  Was a flying finisher when third here, the penny dropping far too late – and then did best of those held up in a messy race at Sandown. Will love a good pace to aim at, and looks very interesting.

Keswick, (1940 Kempton), 11/2:  Originally in the care of John Gosden, he has returned from a break now in the small yard of Heather Main.  Has run like a big outsider until well supported last time at Lingfield where he forged clear like a horse finding his feet.  He is up 7lbs for that win, but was worth that now that he is back on the up.  Can follow up.

Duke Cosimo, (2040 Kempton), 3/1:  It’s been a long time since he was winning here for Sir Michael Stoute.  But he has looked revived in recent Newcastle runs and his trainer has deemed it worth the long trek south to strike whilst the iron is warm.  This course could suit his hold up style a bit better than Newcastle and he can roll back the years.

War Glory, (2110 Kempton), 7/1:  Won a big race here on course debut two runs ago.  Is 6lbs higher now but as a confirmed front runner he burnt up energy getting across from his wide draw that day – he is perfectly boxed on the rail today and can dictate from the outset.  Hot favourite Auxerre could be anything but looks way too short off the back of two long odds-on wins.
