Wednesday Yankee: Ayr force…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Inductive, (1540 Ayr), 1pt win, 7/2:

This 3yo has transitioned well from the all weather and did particularly well to get up and win here last time.  He is up just 3lbs for that but the runner up has won twice since and the third has won too so the form looks worth a lot more than that initial assessment.  Unproven on soft ground but should handle it and looks well in here.

Devil’s Angel (1440 Ayr), 4/1:  a few old favourites here and course lover John Kirkup should go well as should our weekend pick Tommy G although he may prefer it to dry up.  Either way they have their hands full with the improving Devil’s Angel whose Newcastle win last time promised plenty more to come.  The valuable claim of Megan Nicholls is a big plus and it will be no surprise if he isn’t a stone higher in ratings in time for the Ayr Gold Cup meeting.

Alpine Mistral (1710 Ayr), 4/1:  has sauntered home in two recent wide margin wins.  Of course the handicapper has had his say with another 10lb hike, but the horse she thrashed last time has been an easy winner since and the raters could be struggling to catch up with a rapidly improving 3yo filly.  Soft ground is the unknown but trainer Dascombe has plenty of options for her and we will trust he has picked correctly.

Robeam, (1740 Ayr), 8/1:  not many in this large field can boast form at this staying trip and on softer ground, but Brian Ellison’s 4yo gelding has both.  Should be getting better at this trip at this age and has done enough in recent runs to suggest he can hit the mark now back up to this distance.
