Wednesday Yankee: Only have eyes for Goo…

Another winning nap yesterday with a cosy win for Glajou (5/2),which combined with a non-runner, a second, and a 13/2 winner also paid 6x money on the yankee , knocking on the door of a big payout….

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:   Goobinator, (1425 Haydock), 1pt win, 4/1:

The high profile connections of favourite Hijack means he probably takes more of the market than his form warrants.  On the other hand Goobinator may have been let off lightly with a 4lb rise for his Ayr win last time.  That was a photo finish but the second could also be well handicapped and they pulled over 20l clear of the rest.  Should go well at a track his connections get plenty of success at.

Townshend, (1405 Ludlow), 6/1:  was useful in Ireland for Willie Mullins and showed there is an afterlife when coming good for Nigel Twiston-Davies last season.  Had gone off the boil but there were good signs in a fair race at Ascot last time when moving up as though he would feature only to fade late on.  Another dip in the weights, a useful 7lb claim, a significant drop in class and an easier track could all combine to see him back in the winning groove.

Indy Five, (1420 Haydock), 5/2:  tempting to weigh in with old time class acts like Whisper or Seeyouatmidnight or Burtons Well, but they are all now in this grade as a result of decline and whilst any of them could “do a Yorkhill” and find their best, it’s more likely they won’t.  Indy Five was an excellent second when just overhauled on the line at Uttoxeter.  With proven recent form, proven fitness, a feather weight in the mud, and the help of Brian Hughes, he looks a rock solid option.

Booley Beach, (1545 Ludlow), 3/1: plenty of big stables represented by newcomers here so there is the risk of running into something special.  That said, if Booley Beach can iron out a few quirks then she sets a good standard.  She looked set to win with ease on debut at Musselburgh until inexperience kicked in and she nearly unshipped Daryl Jacob and got done on the line as a result.  She has been worked on at home to wrinkle out those issues and Jacob will be alive to the need to deliver her a little later if possible.  She has plenty of ability and that valuable experience could propel her to the win.
