Tuesday Yankee: Fir set to fly at the Toon…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:   Fircombe Hall, (1845 Newcastle), 1pt win, 9/2:

He has plenty of back form here and it was no surprise to see him back in good form when leading until late on here in a decent little race last time.  This looks a bit easier and he can grab quick consolation.

Savalas, (1545 Newcastle), 10/1: has already been backed down from huge prices but arguably should never have been those odds.  Has an excellent all weather record.  Comes here off a dismal turf season that has seen his rating fall.  Would be really well in if the return to this surface rekindles the flame and is still value to do just that.

Redzone, (1815 Newcastle), 11/4:  ran two excellent races for his young apprentice here recently with a cosy win followed by an excellent effort to bustle up a very well handicapped favourite.  Wasn’t quite so effective at very different Kempton and can bounce back now he is back in the Toon.

Maggie’s Joy, (1915 Newcastle), 7/1:  juvenile filly who made a decent start to handicapping when a plugging into 5th at Nottingham last time.   Looks for all the world as though the stiff straight mile will be ideal.  The surface is an unknown but her half-sister was good on it and she may be able to continue the family honour.
