Premier League: Sanches to shine

Sunday’s late game in the Premier League sees Swansea host Newcastle at the Liberty Stadium, with both teams looking to improve from slow starts to the season.

The home team start as favourites despite losing their most influential player in the summer transfer window. Iceland international Gylfi Sigurdsson agreed to join Everton for a fee of around £45 million.

However, in his place the Swans could well have landed a transfer coup in persuading Portuguese international Renato Sanches to join on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich.

The player looks destined for great things, and it was a major surprise that Swansea got his signature (albeit probably just for a year) after he was deemed surplus to requirements in Munich.

Although he only arrived in South Wales on Friday after the international week, we will take a punt that he will be involved in today’s game. Also, we’ve noticed a trend of commentators praising new players and talking up their chances of being influential this season. Thus we’ll take a punt that Sanches gets the man of the match vote in today’s clash.

Recommendation: Sanches to win man of the match, 1 pt, at 10/1, William Hill
