Kerching!!: 14/1 Fernandinho winner…

The big game in the Premier League had most football fans engrossed last night, but subscribers to Lap of the Odds would also have been rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of collecting yet more cash.

Ahead of the clash the blog had suggested that punters look to Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero to score first, continuing his home league run against Liverpool, and that City’s Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho would take the man of the match award. (Premier League: Sharp shooting Sergio…)

Sure enough, Aguero hit the net with a rasping shot just before halftime to land a 9/2 shot with SkyBet and William Hill subsequently paid out the 14/1 on Fernandinho being the game’s best player.*

This continues a run of football payouts, including for Harry Kane scoring first on Tuesday (Premier League: Kane to start ball rolling…), Paul Pogba winning man of the match on Sunday (Premier League: Looking for Pogba magic…) and Liverpool putting more than three past Arsenal on Saturday (Premier League: Arsenal agony at Anfield?).

Keep tuned in for more betting suggestions as the new year rolls on.

*Not all bookies use the same MoM method, so whilst most, including our advised choice of Hills picked Fernandinho, we note that one or two settled on a different basis.
