Champions League: Man Utd to win, Chelsea to draw

The Champions League is back this week, and two English clubs are playing tonight. Manchester United host Benfica and Chelsea go to the Eternal City to face Roma.

United sit prettily on top of their qualifying group with maximum points from their opening three games. They arrive fresh after scraping an important Premier League win over high-flying Tottenham, and now face a side they beat away from home in their last match in Europe.

All signs point to a home win, although probably not a walkover given the paucity of United’s attacking play of late.

Chelsea have an altogether more difficult task. They drew 3-3 with Roma at Stamford Bridge in the reverse fixture, having led by two goals. The Italians will have gained much confidence from the way they came back in that game, and have won all three league games since.

That said, the Blues must have drawn confidence from their excellent win in Madrid against Atletico earlier in the qualifying process. They are likely to set their stall out to be difficult to beat and would be very happy with a draw.

Recommendations: Man Utd to win and Chelsea to draw as a double, 1 pt, at approximately 7/2, Paddy Power
